Religious Education

At Alexandra Primary School we offer a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum that promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural and physical development of children at our school.  The RE curriculum supports this and helps prepare children for the many experiences, responsibilities and opportunities that they will face in later life.

The RE curriculum is locally determined by each Standing Advisory Council on RE (SACRE), Hounslow has produced its local Agreed Syllabus for RE ‘Widening Horizons’ and school uses this alongside additional resources from the National Association of Teachers of Religious Education (NATRE) and Discovery RE.

Children at Alexandra Primary School are taught core knowledge and are able to explore the beliefs and practices of religions and worldviews.  This not only shapes their history and culture but will also guide their own beliefs and moral development. The modern world needs young people who are sufficiently confident in their own beliefs and values that they can respect the religious and cultural differences of others, and contribute to a cohesive and compassionate society.
