Year 4

Dear Year 4 Parents and Carers,

We hope you have had a relaxing summer break. So far, we have seen enthusiastic, motivated and hardworking children, who look incredibly smart in their uniforms. We have been incredibly impressed with the transition the children have made into Year 4.

We would like to remind you of a few points which will help your child in Year 4:

•              Please ensure that your child’s PE kit is always in school. PE kit should consist of: plain round neck white t-shirt, black shorts and plimsolls. In winter, children may wear black tracksuit bottoms. No logos should be evident on PE kit.

•              Uniform should consist of: Grey/black trousers or skirt, white polo shirt, APS green jumper/cardigan and black shoes.

•              Please send your child in with a named water bottle to keep in class (separate to lunch drink).

•              Homework will be set on Friday and due in the following Wednesday.

•              Please check your child’s diary and bag for any important information and letters.

•              Children should be reading at home every day. We have found it to be highly beneficial when children read to an adult, at home, as this helps with their pronunciation of words.

•              Please comment on your child’s reading in their reading log. To support their reading, children should also be completing an activity in their reading log once a week.

Our main topic, this term, is ‘Romans on the Rampage’. If you have any relevant artefacts or experiences that you can share with us, please let us know. The topic grid overleaf gives detailed information about the work we will be covering in all subject areas, but some of these topics will be combined. Please add comments to the slip on this letter informing us of any ideas you have, regarding topics your child will study or anything that you may be able to contribute to the topic.

If you have the opportunity, please take your child to the library to choose books to read around the topic mentioned overleaf. The support you give to your child is invaluable as it gives them more confidence and knowledge to use back in school.

Thanks for your support,

The Year 4 Team
